“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
— Matthew 6:21
Your church leadership has constructed a bold plan of ministry to continue our mission of “helping all people build life-transforming relationships with God and each other.” As we plan for a new budget year, we invite you to join us in this journey of being God’s people in the Caldwells and beyond.
- To provide meaningful, life-changing worship every week of the year
- To witness to our faith in service beyond ourselves
- To nurture persons in their faith journey through education and fellowship
FirstPres has always lived up the challenge of Jesus to “go into all the world.” We understand our role as servants and laborers in a vineyard that does not belong to us. Each year we join other churches and groups to support missions both local and worldwide. We help feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and bring safe water to those who never had it. We regularly serve in a soup kitchen to those who need it, as well as partnering with neighbor faith institutions in stocking the Caldwell Food Pantry. Our Deacons regularly organize sandwich nights, along with a Turkey Drive at Thanksgiving. Each fall, the Women’s Fellowship sponsors a backpack and school supply collection. This year close to 80 youth spent a week of their summer working with disadvantaged home-owners through the Pittsburgh Project, and for the first time, we partnered with the African Dream Academy in Monrovia, Liberia, to ensure these impoverished kids receive an education – a relationship we intend to build upon and expand.
Looking forward, we are learning about how to sponsor and aid a refugee family in their resettlement. We also intend to work more closely with “Oasis,” a ministry designed to “change the lives of women and children by breaking the cycle of poverty through compassionate programs designed to feed, clothe, educate, and empower women and children in need.” We will continue to support various other need-based organizations.
Approximately 27% of our annual budget supports our service and mission ministry. Pledge Dedication Sunday is November 13th!
