Christmas… It’s All About Giving!

Christmas is the perfect time of the year to share with others. There are many ways, large and small, where we can make a difference for those in need. It’s the ideal time for children to be involved in doing something good for others.

“Strengthen Our Sisters” (Domestic Violence Shelter)

Choose a tag from the decorated tree in the lobby near the Christian Education desk and select a gift for a child or woman who is in a safe place to receive help. Strengthen Our Sisters is based on the “pass it on” philosophy. When a woman is helped, she is encouraged to “pass it on” – – self help through helping others.

Do you like parties? Join other church members as together we host a Christmas Party on December 14th for women and children at SOS. Contact Jean Cortese, 201-362-1709 or email jcortese201@gmail.com to help. Gifts due by Sunday, December 8th.

Food Collections

Members and Friends of the West Essex Ministerial Association have long recognized a common call to care for those in need. Collecting food to share with folks right here in our own community through the Caldwell Human Services Food Pantry is easy to do. Door hangers are available in the church office, put them on the door of a neighbor with a pick up date, pick up the food, bring it to the church. We will see that it gets delivered.

Mitten Tree

A long standing tradition of the Weekday Nursery School is to fill the branches of a tree with mittens and hats for families of the Patch Program in Essex County Jails. The Patch Program provides activities in the jails in a pleasant, child-oriented room for children when visiting incarcerated parents. Help the fill the tree on the Nursery School level by December 13th.

Poinsettia Delivery

Our Sanctuary is banked with these beautiful flowers of the Christmas season for two Sundays each year. Then many of the plants are delivered to members of our congregation after the 10:00am worship service on December 22nd. What better way to share the joy of Christmas where needed than with a caring visit!
