Film-related music will be featured in a concert by FPC’s three Handbell Choirs on Monday, June 10 at 7:30pm. The Chapel Bells (5th-7th grade), the First Church Ringers (8th-12th grade), and the Chancel Handbell Choir (adults)—over 30 ringers in total—will delight guests with a wide variety of tunes from favorite movies old and new.

Also featured in the concert will be the Chancel Choir and friends, organist Barbara Piercy, and virtuoso handbell soloists Joelle Piercy and Taryn Urban. Audience members will be treated to music from Ordinary People, Pocahontas, Lady and the Tramp, Titanic, Sweet Home Alabama, Chariots of Fire, Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and more, all cleverly arranged for handbells, a unique musical medium.

The Special Guest Artist of the evening is RadioCityMusic Hall organist TRENT JOHNSON, who will improvise an elaborate organ accompaniment to a historic silent film. Mr Johnson is an internationally recognized organist, pianist, conductor and composer.

Members of the handbell ensembles will be playing a total of 8 octaves of English-style bronze handbells manufactured in Pennsylvania, and three octaves of aluminum chimes. Handbell ensembles have been active at FPC since 1969, when the first 3 octaves of bells were purchased.
