GATHERING
REFLECTION
In Baptism each Christian is called to ministry in
Christ’s name. God calls some persons from the midst of congregations to
fulfill particular functions, so that the ministry of
the whole people of God may flourish. In ordination the church sets apart with
prayer and the laying on of hands those who have been called by God through the
voice of the church to serve as deacons, ruling elders, and ministers of the
Word and Sacrament. In installation the church sets in place with prayer those
who have been (previously) ordained as deacons, ruling elders, and ministers of
the Word and Sacrament.

CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Leader: You
have heard it said:
Men: Look after number one…
Women: Get them before they get you…
All: Better be
safe than sorry…
Leader: What’s someone else’s problems got to do with
me…?
Men: Only the strong survive…
Women: Money makes the world go round…
All: Revenge is
sweet…
O Lord, forgive us when we, as Christ’s own people, believe
these words to be life giving when Jesus has shown us a better way.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this
day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
