CHURCH AT CALDWELL
Our Purpose:
To help all people build life-transforming relationships with God
and each other.
The members and friends of FPC welcome people from all backgrounds
- - people
of faith from throughout the world, people who profess no faith, Christians of all denominations and
those who are searching for religious and spiritual meaning.
Welcome!
DAY OF PENTECOST
CONFIRMATION
SUNDAY
June 9, 2019
Ten o’clock
GATHERING
REFLECTION
The church
nurtures those baptized as children and calls them to make public their
personal profession of faith
and their
acceptance of responsibility in the life of the church. When these persons are
ready, they shall be
examined by the
session. After the session has received them as active members they shall be
presented to the
congregation
during a service of public worship. In that service the church shall confirm
them in their
baptismal
identity. They are commissioned for full participation in the mission and
governance of the church,
and are welcomed
by the congregation.

CONFESSION
CORPORATE
CONFESSION
Sometimes we are
like those disciples so long ago:
Huddled in fear of
what others will think,
Of what others
will do,
Of what God will
do.
Sometimes we are
like passive bystanders:
Making fun of what
we do not understand,
Tearing down what
is sacred to another
Waiting until we
are sure it’s safe.
Always God is with
us:
Nudging us like a
gentle breeze,
Stirring us with
flames of hope
Speaking to us
with words engraved in our hearts.
In silent prayer,
let us offer God our confession and our hope.
PERSONAL
CONFESSION
In the name of
Jesus, we pray.
Amen.
ASSURANCE OF
FORGIVENESS
...Friends,
believe the good news.
In Jesus Christ we
are forgiven.

PRAYER
(adapted from a
Confirmand’s Statement of Faith)
Lord, with the
assistance of the Holy Spirit, help me love You, my family and those in my
community.
Help me to be kind
to others and help whenever I am needed.
Lord, help me to
be a peacemaker, choosing peace, not conflict.
Give me the
patience to wait for things I need and to wait for the Lord.
Lord, give me the
self-control to be mindful of my actions.
Help me to be
faithful.
Be with me every
day in my relationship with You and those around me.
Help me to be
gentle and careful with what I say or do with others.
