“What’s So Amazing About Grace?” by Philip Yancey

Yancey promotes this study out of his concern that some of us in the U.S. church have lost the way of grace and that we stand in danger of becoming ineffective in our most important role to the world. “I came to see that grace underlies the gospel. It affects how we treat each other: our family members and the coworker we don’t get along with, those who sit beside us in church and those who vote in ways we don’t agree with, the friend who hurt us years ago and the cranky neighbor down the street. I truly believe that the future for Christians depends on how we master the art of giving grace.

Gordon MacDonald said, “You need not be a Christian to build houses, feed the hungry, or heal the sick. There is only one thing the world cannot do. It cannot offer grace.” And that is the church’s single most important contribution. Where else can the world go to find grace? And the world indeed is desperately thirsty for grace.”
