New Beginnings is an opportunity for the congregation of First Pres to meaningfully evaluate our past and present, and to make decisions about our future in the context of the evolving communities we serve. It seeks to answer the question, “How do we as a congregation evolve and adapt to the changing context of the community in which we live and minister?”

Central to the process is a series of six small-group meetings of approximately seven to ten people. Input from these meetings will shape decisions for future steps that will then be proposed to the congregation. We invite you to be a part of these important meetings.

We can’t do it without you!

New Beginnings has four parts:

  1. On-site assessment (this happened in January of this year)
  2. Leadership Training (this took place in March, as a team of FPC members participated in a 2-day training event)
  3. Small Group Meetings (scheduled to begin in September)
  4. Decision-Making

By far the most important part of the process is the small group meeting part, which consists of 6 sessions, each facilitated by one of the New Beginnings Team leaders. Each of you will be given the opportunity to be part of a small group, and it is our hope that you will want to participate. Sign-ups for small groups have begun, with the meetings themselves beginning in September.
