This will be the eighth year that members of First Presbyterian Church have participated in the Pedal for Promise to support Urban Promise. We are excited to again participate on May 3rd and have set an ambitious fundraising goal of $15,000. We welcome new riders/fundraisers, if you would like to ride, please register as a member of Team First Presbyterian through the link provided. Many of our riders will ride the 65 mile course, however there are shorter distances of 15, and 30 miles available as well.

Urban Promise is a wonderful ministry helping children who live in the inner city of Camden, New Jersey. Over its 25 year history Urban Promise’s relational approach has yielded tremendous success. On average, 100% of high school students graduate and around 93% go on to college. Nearly 85% of Urban Promise alumni have graduated from an institution of higher education.

We appreciate any and all donations to help us meet our goal. Please click this link to support the efforts of Team First Presbyterian with a donation!

A bit about Urban Promise from their website:

We seek to fulfill our mission — to equip children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and leadership — through several after-school and summer camps, two schools, job training, experiential learning, and a host of other programs that challenge youth to develop and realize their potential. Unique to our vision is a commitment to involving local teens — known as StreetLeaders — in the tutoring, mentoring, and coaching of younger children in the community. By involving teens in the leadership process, UrbanPromise is creating a new generation of young, visionary leaders who embody a commitment to change their own community.
