The popular musical HAIR depicts the birth of a cultural movement in the `60s and `70s that changed America forever: the musical follows a group of hopeful, free-spirited young people who advocate a lifestyle of pacifism and free love in a society riddled with intolerance and brutality during the Vietnam War. As they explore the meaning of life, the “tribe” contemplates a message of hope, peace and change that is consistent with the world today. The choir members of the FPC youth choir have been singing together throughout the 2020-2021 school year. Rehearsals have been held on ZOOM and outside on the church lawn – in hot or cold weather. The young people have been learning anthems for worship, Christmas Eve and Easter Vigil that were performed online as a virtual choir. This cabaret performance is their first opportunity to perform live and in person. The 50-minute performance will be presented on Monday and Tuesday, July 19 & 20 at 7:00pm in the church sanctuary. (Please wear a mask if you are not vaccinated). The performances may also be seen on FACEBOOK Live on the church page. The performance is free and open to the community. A free-will donation will be collected to support mission projects that the choir has sponsored for several years: The Sara Jane Hussey Memorial Fund (to support church youth choir activities), Dystonia Research and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. All monies collected will be divided equally between these three organizations.
